Ukraine crisisIndia calls on Russia, Ukraine to halt Black Sea attacks in truce plan — Foreign Ministry "Insofar as specifics are concerned, India is trying to be helpful, starting with the Black Sea, safety of the shipping issue, addressing immediate concerns of Russia and Ukraine on grain and energy exports, and non-attack possibilities," Randhir Jaiswal saidNEW DELHI, October 7. /TASS/. India's plan for a settlement in Ukraine includes ensuring the safety of navigation in the Black Sea, grain and fuel exports, while also calling on Kiev and Moscow to halt attacks on vessels in the body of water, said Foreign Ministry Spokesman Randhir Jaiswal. "Insofar as specifics are concerned, India is trying to be helpful, starting with the Black Sea, safety of the shipping issue, addressing immediate concerns of Russia and Ukraine on grain and energy exports, and non-attack possibilities," he said. "We have ongoing conversations with both Russia and Ukraine on this particular matter. In keeping with this idea to bring peace, India has engaged both sides that is Russia and Ukraine. This has been appreciated by both Russia and Ukraine." He also said that India's previously stated the position that "the dialogue and diplomacy are the way forward. You are well aware of our position. The prime minister on multiple locations has expressed that this is not an era of war, and no solution lies in the battlefield." India's plan for a settlement in Ukraine Earlier, the Hindustan Times newspaper quoted sources as saying that India had proposed a three-point truce plan for the conflict in Ukraine to ensure uninterrupted supplies of grain and energy. According to the paper, the plan provides for the cessation of attacks on energy facilities and other infrastructure, ensuring uninterrupted supplies of grain and energy through the ports of the Black Sea and the cessation of attacks on commercial vessels on this strategically important waterway. Earlier, Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Moscow had appreciated New Delhi’s willingness to contribute to the settlement of the Ukrainian conflict and for its ideas. Russian President Vladimir Putin previously said that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has very good ideas for finding mutually acceptable solutions to end the conflict in Ukraine. Putin also said that the situation around Ukraine for Russia is not about a "piece of land," but about people. Russia needs to create conditions not for a truce, but for a lasting peace, "for a long historical perspective," and security guarantees are needed, the president noted.
