**Indian and Russian Army Chiefs Meet in Moscow as Ties Deepen**
Indian Army Chief General Dhiraj Seth is currently on a three-day official visit to Russia, which will conclude on Friday. This visit marks a significant step in the ongoing military cooperation between India and Russia, as the two nations seek to strengthen their defense ties.
During his time in Moscow, General Seth is scheduled to hold discussions with Colonel General Andrei Mordvichev, the chief of the Russian Land Forces. A primary focus of their talks will be on the availability of spare parts and supplies for Russian-origin military equipment that is currently in service with the Indian Army. This issue is particularly critical for India, as the country is engaged in various upgrade programs aimed at extending the operational life of its Russian hardware, including the T-90 Bhishma tanks.
Data from the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute reveals that Russia accounted for 40% of India’s arms imports between 2021 and 2025, solidifying its position as India's largest arms supplier during this period. In a recent development, India signed a $46 million contract with Russia’s Rosoboronexport for the procurement of Tunguska air defense missile systems, further emphasizing the importance of the defense relationship between the two countries.
