The first edition of the International Industrial Trade Fair INNOPROM. India opened on September 9 at the Bharat Mandapam exhibition complex in New Delhi, bringing together more than 130 Russian and Indian companies.
The event, taking place in Pavilion No. 1, is being held ahead of the 18th BRICS Summit. It is organized by the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade and India’s Ministry of Commerce and Industry. The operators are Formika Event LLC on the Russian side and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) on the Indian side.
Organizers said the Russian and Indian national sections were given equal exhibition space. The Russian side features some of the country’s largest state corporations and industrial firms, including Rostec, Rosatom, Roscosmos, United Aircraft Corporation, United Engine Corporation, Sber, Natsproektstroy, Transmashholding, RUSAL, PhosAgro, the Center for Research and Development in Advanced Technologies, A7, and Arnest.
Regional group stands from Moscow, Tatarstan, Krasnodar Krai, and the Chelyabinsk Region are also part of the exhibition, along with companies taking part in a business mission organized by the Russian Export Center. The Russia National Centre has a separate stand displaying traditional Russian folk arts and crafts.
India’s section includes major companies and institutions from sectors such as metallurgy, mining, digital technology, transport engineering, textiles, energy, and oil and gas. Among the participants are MECON, Steel Authority of India Ltd. (SAIL), NMDC, MOIL, Central Electronics Ltd., RVNL, Titagarh Rail Systems, Tata Power, ITC Group, KABIL, Shatei Engineering, and Bansal Spinning Mills.
A notable part of the fair is the focus on cultural showcases. Organizers have set aside special demonstration areas for traditional Russian and Indian arts and crafts, where local producers are holding master classes for visitors.
Business matchmaking is also a major theme of the fair. The Russian Export Center and the Confederation of Indian Industry have created networking zones at the venue to help companies identify suppliers and customers and to discuss potential joint projects.
“INNOPROM provides an important platform for bringing together representatives of industry, technology providers, investors, and government institutions from India and Russia to explore new opportunities for cooperation,” said Vishnu Sharma, Deputy Director General for Corporate Affairs and Marketing at the National Industrial Corridor Development Corporation (NICDC).
He added that India is developing “world-class industrial smart cities” and said platforms such as INNOPROM support direct engagement with Russian and other international firms, while helping them enter the Indian market and expand their presence there.
According to Sharma, such cooperation could help turn the growing economic relationship between the two countries into “tangible investments, manufacturing localization, technology partnerships, and the creation of new industrial ecosystems in India.”
The trade fair’s business program is running on September 9 and 10, with discussions focused on expanding Russian-Indian trade, economic and industrial ties. Participants are expected to address potential cooperation in industry and high-tech fields, as well as new business opportunities.
The central event will be the main plenary session on September 10, titled “Enhancing Russian-Indian Trade and Industrial Partnership: Towards Greater Self-Reliance.” It is set to feature Russian Industry and Trade Minister Anton Alikhanov and Indian Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal.
Officials from both delegations are also expected to tour the exhibition on the second and third days of the fair.
