**Iran Conveys Conditions to US Amid Renewed Diplomatic Efforts**
Iran has communicated its conditions to the United States via intermediaries following Washington's recent proposals to Tehran, according to a political source in the Iranian capital. This development comes in the wake of heightened tensions in the region, marked by military exchanges between the two nations last week.
Reports indicate that the US conducted multiple strikes against Iranian targets, to which Tehran responded with missile and drone attacks on American military installations located in Jordan and Bahrain. These military actions have underscored the fragile state of relations and the urgent need for diplomatic engagement.
The Iranian source stated that the US had sent proposals through mediators after negotiations stalled due to what they described as US breaches of commitments and failures in military engagements. In response to these American overtures, Iran articulated its own conditions, although specific details of both the US proposals and Iranian conditions have not been disclosed.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry has emphasized the importance of the commitments outlined in the June Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), which Iran insists must be honored by the US. Esmaeil Baqaei, a spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry, remarked that US and Israeli attacks on Iranian nuclear facilities have significantly hindered inspections by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). Baqaei accused Washington of exacerbating the situation while simultaneously using the lack of access to increase pressure on Tehran.
"The ball has long been in the US court," Baqaei stated, urging Washington to cease military attacks, lift economic sanctions, and end the naval blockade if it seeks to resolve ongoing tensions. He characterized diplomacy as a "dynamic and continuous process," suggesting that ongoing dialogue is essential for progress.
Recent diplomatic efforts have included visits from delegations from Oman and Pakistan to Iran, as well as discussions between Qatari representatives and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi. Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesman Majed al-Ansari confirmed that Doha has been exploring various scenarios aimed at addressing the concerns of both Iran and the US.
In a related development, Iran and Oman have reportedly made significant strides toward establishing a temporary safe shipping route through the Strait of Hormuz. However, Iranian officials have clarified that this arrangement does not equate to a full reopening of the strategic waterway, countering claims made by Washington regarding the situation.
