Strait of Hormuz developmentsIran has ‘fingers on trigger,’ ready to respond to US, Israeli aggression — lawmaker Ebrahim Azizi pointed out that Iran’s response "will be even more severe and devastating than anything they have seen before"TEHRAN, October 6. /TASS/. Iran’s armed forces have their "fingers on the trigger" and are fully ready for a potential new round of confrontation with the US and Israel, Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Chairman Ebrahim Azizi stated. "Our armed forces are more prepared than ever, fingers on the trigger, waiting for any miscalculation by the US or the Zionist regime (Israel - TASS)," the lawmaker wrote in a post on his X page. Azizi also pointed out that Iran’s response "will be even more severe and devastating than anything they have seen before." The US and Israel launched a war against Iran on February 28. In June, Washington and Tehran signed a memorandum of understanding providing for an immediate cessation of hostilities on all fronts, including in Lebanon. However, in the early morning hours of July 8, the US resumed large-scale strikes against Iran, accusing it of violating the terms of the agreements reached on the Strait of Hormuz. Nearly 25% of the global oil trade and about 20% of the liquefied natural gas trade pass through the strait. The US administration then effectively signaled that it would cease the use of large-scale military force against Iran and shift to attempting to economically strangle the country through sanctions.
