**Iran Sends Peace Terms to the US Through Qatari Mediators**
Iran has officially communicated its peace terms to the United States, as confirmed by Mohsen Rezaei, the country's top security official. This development comes amid ongoing tensions and disrupted maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz, which has contributed to rising energy prices. The communication was facilitated by Qatari mediators, highlighting Qatar's role as a diplomatic intermediary in the region.
According to Rezaei, the 60-day negotiation period outlined in a US-Iranian memorandum of understanding expired last month without reaching a settlement. He emphasized that it is in the best interest of Washington to accept Iran's conditions. In a statement on social media platform X, Rezaei conveyed that Iran has set forth seven conditions that must be met before any negotiations can commence.
Rezaei's comments reflect Iran's position that the US must recognize its rights and accept the proposed terms to alleviate the current tensions. He stated, “If Washington wants to escape the predicament it has created for itself and avoid becoming further entangled in it, it has no choice but to recognize Iran’s rights and accept its conditions.”
In an interview with Al Jazeera, Rezaei elaborated on some of the conditions outlined by Iran. These include an end to hostilities on all fronts, the release of Iranian funds that have been frozen, and the cessation of the naval blockade affecting Iran. Additionally, Iranian officials have indicated that they are seeking the withdrawal of American military forces from the region, as well as compensation for recent US and Israeli military actions against Iran, particularly referencing strikes that occurred on February 28.
