Aqaba, Jordan – Jordanian officials have clarified that no evacuation order has been issued for the Aqaba airport or port, despite recent alerts from the US embassy in Amman regarding a “specific and credible threat.” The statement from the Jordanian government comes as regional tensions escalate following military incidents involving Iranian forces.
Government spokesman Mohammad al-Momani addressed the situation in a statement to Reuters, asserting that Jordanian authorities have not identified any immediate danger. “No potential threat has been recorded by the relevant Jordanian authorities in the last few hours,” he stated, emphasizing that both the airport and port are functioning normally.
The US embassy in Amman had earlier advised American citizens to refrain from traveling to the Aqaba airport and port, urging them to adhere to security guidance provided by Jordanian authorities. This advisory followed reports of heightened military activity in the region, particularly after the US military confirmed that two personnel were killed and another was missing in Jordan due to an Iranian attack.
