Kazakhstan reroutes some oil exports over CPC disruption According to the republic's Ministry of Energy, in addition to operational channels, options under consideration as prospective export routes include transport via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline, shipments across the Caspian Sea through Azerbaijan, and the Baku-Supsa routeASTANA, August 10. /TASS/. Kazakhstan rerouted a portion of its crude oil exports to alternative paths last month due to temporary intake restrictions at the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC), the republic's Ministry of Energy announced. "Following the temporary CPC intake limitations in July, part of the oil volumes was diverted to alternative shipping routes, including toward the port of Aktau, along the Atasu-Alashankou line, and via the Atyrau-Samara pipeline," the ministry told reporters. In addition to operational channels, options under consideration as prospective export routes include transport via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline, shipments across the Caspian Sea through Azerbaijan, and the Baku-Supsa route. The energy ministry noted that "the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan system already handles around 1.2 million tonnes of Kazakh oil annually, and the Azerbaijani side has expressed readiness to scale up intake to 2.2 million tonnes per year." In July and August, CPC infrastructure near Novorossiysk faced multiple Ukrainian drone strikes. Kazakhstan relies on the CPC to ship the bulk of its crude output to global markets, accounting for roughly 80%.
