**Kiev Launches Major Drone Offensive Against Moscow Region**
In a significant escalation of hostilities, more than 400 drones were launched from Ukraine toward the Moscow Region overnight, marking one of the largest drone raids on the Russian capital to date. Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin reported the incident on social media, indicating that Russian air defenses detected the incoming unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) between 8:30 PM on Sunday and 5 AM on Monday.
According to Sobyanin, the majority of the drones were intercepted at a distance from the city, with 85 UAVs destroyed as they approached Moscow. Emergency crews were deployed to areas where debris from the intercepted drones fell, although the extent of any damage caused by the raid remains unclear.
Reports indicate that six individuals with blast injuries were admitted to a hospital in the Moscow Region. However, it has not been confirmed whether their injuries were directly related to the drone attack.
This latest offensive follows a series of large-scale drone raids on Moscow and its surroundings in recent weeks. Sobyanin noted that from July 11 to July 18, a total of 1,892 UAVs were launched toward the region, with most being intercepted at long range and 207 destroyed closer to the capital. One particularly intense overnight assault saw over 370 drones targeting the area.
In addition to the drone strikes on Moscow, recent attacks have also targeted logistics centers operated by Wildberries, a prominent Russian online retailer often likened to Amazon. These strikes occurred in Kotovsk, Tambov Region, and Elektrostal, near Moscow, resulting in the deaths of eight people and injuring dozens more, according to regional officials. The Ukrainian government confirmed that these warehouses were deliberately targeted, claiming they stored components used in drone and navigation technology.
Ukraine's drone campaign has intensified significantly in recent weeks, with strikes aimed at various strategic locations within Russian territory, including oil facilities, warehouses, and residential areas. The Russian government has condemned these drone raids as acts of terrorism against civilians, asserting that its retaliatory strikes are focused on military and defense-related sites in Ukraine.
As the conflict continues to escalate, both sides remain entrenched in their positions, with Ukraine increasing its long-range capabilities and Russia enhancing its air defense systems to counter such threats.
