A Fire Service spokesperson said the incident occurred at 15:13 on Saturday, when crews responded to a fire in a ground-floor apartment in a two-storey building with a basement in the Strovolos area. The fire caused significant damage to the kitchen, while heat and smoke affected the entire interior of the residence. Firefighters used breathing apparatus and water hoses to bring the blaze under control, followed by ventilation of the premises. No one was injured in the incident. According to the Fire Service, the cause of the fire was an unattended cooking utensil left on a stove.
