**Kohli Announces 2027 World Cup Will Be His Final ODI Tournament for India**
In a significant announcement, Indian cricket star Virat Kohli revealed that the upcoming 2027 ICC Men's Cricket World Cup will mark his final appearance for India in One Day Internationals (ODIs). The 37-year-old batsman expressed his determination to give his all in pursuit of lifting the trophy, emphasizing the importance of this tournament in his career.
Kohli, who holds the record for the most centuries in ODIs with 54, has had an illustrious career, having previously retired from T20 internationals and Test cricket. Reflecting on his motivation for the tournament, Kohli stated, “For me, it’s the last World Cup I’m going to play for India. That is my motivation and like, you know, to leave everything out there. And of course, the goal is absolutely to win the World Cup and whatever it takes, I’m absolutely ready.”
Kohli acknowledged the challenges that come with competing in a 50-over World Cup, particularly when it is held in foreign conditions. He described the intensity of the tournament as unparalleled, comparing the demands of a World Cup to playing multiple T20 matches in a single day. “The intensity of a 50-over World Cup is greater than anything. Because now, it’s about 10 games at a Twenty20 level of intensity,” he explained. “But you are playing 2.5 T20 games in one day. And to maintain that intensity for 10 games in a big tournament and World Cup is a big deal. Also now, it’s in foreign conditions. It takes a lot out of you.”
Kohli's commitment to the upcoming tournament is echoed by his fellow teammate and former captain Rohit Sharma, who also plays exclusively in ODIs for India. Rohit expressed his excitement about the World Cup, stating, “The thought will never cross my mind that the business I had is finished. As long as you’re playing, there is always something to look forward to. And I’m looking forward to the World Cup.”
