Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov gave an interview to executives from African media outlets in Moscow on Tuesday, ahead of the third Russia-Africa summit.
The interview took place during the Russia-Africa Media Forum in the Russian capital. Earlier on Tuesday, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova also met with African media representatives and answered their questions.
The October 28-29 summit will bring together 22 African leaders, with delegations from 48 of the continent’s 54 countries confirming their participation, according to Kremlin aide Yury Ushakov. Russian President Vladimir Putin and Burundian President Evariste Ndayishimiye, the current African Union chair, will co-chair the gathering at the Grand Kremlin Palace.
The talks will focus on economic cooperation, energy, food security and technology. The summit is expected to adopt a cooperation action plan for 2027-2029, with 33 intergovernmental, interagency and commercial documents also set to be signed.
