Her account gives new details on the events leading up to the attack by her 55-year-old police officer husband, who then took his own life. Her testimony confirms the couple had been struggling mainly with financial problems recently. According to her statement, on Tuesday morning (June 30) her husband followed her in his vehicle. At one point near a school, he stopped his car and forced her to stop hers. He then got into her car, and what followed ended in the bloody incident in which he shot her before taking his own life. The woman said their relationship had deteriorated significantly in recent times, with investigators assessing her testimony alongside other evidence gathered so far. Separate reports indicate the couple had been under constant strain in recent weeks, marked by frequent friction and disagreements. Her testimony is considered particularly significant for the investigation. Once her statement is complete, the case file is expected to be forwarded to the Law Office for further instructions. The officer had reported for duty as normal at the Port Police station at the Agios Rafail marina. At 06:07 he was issued his service weapon, and shortly afterwards told colleagues he was stepping out temporarily, saying: “I’m going for five minutes and I’ll be back.” He never returned to duty, as the bloody incident occurred shortly after. The 55-year-old had been serving as shift supervisor at the Port Police station.
