**Limassol Music Tech Firm Muse Group Eyes Future Growth and Acquisitions**
Limassol-based Muse Group, a prominent player in the music education and technology sector, has announced a new phase in its development following the conclusion of a two-year investment partnership with Francisco Partners. The investment firm, which initially acquired a minority stake in Muse Group in 2023, has now successfully exited its investment.
During the partnership, Muse Group made significant strides in expanding its international presence and enhancing its technological capabilities. A key highlight of this period was the transformational acquisition of Hal Leonard, a major player in music publishing. The company reported consistent performance across its diverse portfolio of brands, which includes well-known names such as Ultimate Guitar, MuseScore, Audacity, and Audio.com.
The conclusion of the investment partnership was facilitated by senior credit facilities arranged by J.P. Morgan, alongside the company’s existing cash reserves. Eugeny Naidenov, the founder and chief executive of Muse Group, remains the majority owner and retains control of the company. He continues to work closely with Mo Chahdi, the executive chairman and chief operating officer, as well as a management team skilled in technology, product development, and global operations.
Naidenov expressed his enthusiasm for the future, stating, “I founded Ultimate Guitar in 1998, driven by a passion to improve the lives of musicians every day. Francisco Partners helped us expand that vision to more markets, more products, and more creators around the globe.” He emphasized that Muse Group is now poised for its next phase, equipped with the necessary products, team, and ambition to further enhance technology that supports musicians in their creative endeavors.
Looking ahead, Muse Group plans to pursue additional acquisitions and partnerships that align with its mission. The company aims to target products and businesses that boast loyal communities, solid foundations, and high-intent users, which can grow in value within the broader Muse ecosystem. The firm has reaffirmed its commitment to product innovation, particularly in the realm of artificial intelligence-enabled creative workflows.
Chahdi highlighted the importance of this milestone for Muse Group, acknowledging the contributions of Francisco Partners throughout the partnership. He noted, “They helped execute and fully integrate the acquisition of Hal Leonard and acted as a valuable strategic partner in strengthening our global footprint, product offering, and technology.” Chahdi stated that the company’s next chapter will focus on execution, product innovation, and enhancing the connectivity and value of the Muse ecosystem for creators.
Lee Rubenstein, managing director at Francisco Partners, praised Muse Group's progress during their collaboration. He remarked, “It has been a privilege to work with Eugeny, Mo, and the Muse Group team over the course of our partnership. Since our initial investment, the company has delivered impressive growth, completed its transformational acquisition of Hal Leonard, and built a leading global music technology platform.” Rubenstein expressed confidence in Muse Group's future, stating that it is well-positioned for continued growth.
Over the years, Muse Group has transformed from a collection of popular music products into a comprehensive ecosystem serving musicians, learners, educators, creators, publishers, and audio professionals worldwide. Its diverse portfolio now reaches millions of users globally through digital platforms, music publishing, educational content, recording tools, and software solutions.
As Muse Group prepares for its next stage of expansion, it remains committed to its roots in music and technological innovation, aiming to create a seamless technology platform for music learners and creators. This platform will facilitate the entire creative process, from learning and producing to recording, publishing, sharing, licensing, and monetizing their work.
With a clear vision for the future and a robust strategy for growth, Muse Group is set to continue its trajectory as a leader in the music technology space, fostering creativity and innovation for musicians around the world.
