Two young men, aged 24 and 21, are believed to have been involved in the attempted murder of their 21-year-old compatriot, who remains in critical condition at Nicosia General Hospital. Investigators are examining the possibility that the 24-year-old, believed to be the attacker, had previously been in a relationship with the woman that ended. The 21-year-old victim is then said to have begun pursuing her. CID Nicosia investigators are also looking into whether the 24-year-old tried to win the woman back, and that this led to the violent incident that escalated into attempted murder. According to the same information, the second 21-year-old who was arrested is believed to have acted as an accomplice, with investigators reviewing information suggesting he supplied the attacker with a dangerous weapon. CID investigations are continuing, and investigators expect to take a statement from the woman to clarify certain details, while police are also searching for the knife used in the attack. Police said that at around 1:15am on Tuesday, they received information that a 21-year-old had been taken to Nicosia General Hospital with injuries.
