**Mafia Hit Suspected in North Nicosia After €400,000 Protection Demand**

The threats reportedly included warnings that if he failed to pay the substantial sum, a social media campaign would be launched against him and his business.
Following these threats, Yesil observed that negative posts targeting his reputation began surfacing on social media platforms. He noted that some of the messages originated from telephone numbers with the German calling code +49, and included a phrase that raised further alarm: “uncle sends you greetings.” This phrase has led to speculation regarding the possible involvement of organized crime groups.
Yesil took the threats seriously and reported them to the police, providing a formal statement regarding the incidents. Approximately a month prior to the arson, he received yet another threatening call, which prompted him to hand over his mobile phone to law enforcement for further investigation.
The arson attack occurred in the early hours of Tuesday in the Trachonas area of north Nicosia. According to the Turkish Cypriot police, a vehicle inside the showroom was doused with a flammable substance and set ablaze, resulting in the destruction of one car and damage to another as the flames spread.
The swift response by law enforcement led to the arrest of the two suspects at the airport, indicating a proactive approach to addressing the situation.
