**Man Arrested Over Paphos Delivery Rider Attack**
Paphos, Cyprus – A 35-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a violent incident involving multiple delivery riders in Paphos, according to local police reports. The arrest took place shortly before midnight on Wednesday, and the suspect is set to appear before the Paphos district court later today.
The police are continuing their investigation into the attack, which occurred on Tuesday evening around 8:40 PM in the Moutallos neighborhood of central Paphos. The incident began when a 26-year-old delivery rider arrived to deliver a food order. Upon arrival, the recipient reportedly refused to pay, leading to an altercation. The delivery rider was attacked by the recipient and three other individuals, during which a rock was thrown at him.
Following the initial assault, the delivery rider alerted his colleagues about the situation. In response, a group of approximately ten men, some armed with metal objects, arrived at the scene and further assaulted the delivery rider. This group also vandalized the motorcycles of the riders present, throwing them to the ground.
The violence did not end there. Reports indicate that four of the attackers later located another delivery rider, a 22-year-old, in a different part of town. They assaulted him as well, stealing his mobile phone and cash before fleeing the scene.
In total, five delivery riders sustained injuries from the incidents. They were all transported to the Paphos general hospital for treatment. As of Thursday, four of the injured riders have been discharged, while one remains hospitalized.
The police are actively searching for additional suspects involved in the attacks, emphasizing their commitment to addressing the violence against delivery personnel in the area. Further updates are expected as the investigation unfolds.
