Members of the Automobile Response Unit (ARU) stopped the vehicle for a check on a road in Ayia Napa at around 11:50pm yesterday, with the 34-year-old driving. During the search that followed, police found €21,760 in the vehicle and €3,795 on the driver himself. Further investigation also found tobacco products in the vehicle without Republic of Cyprus markings. Specifically, 30 packets of tobacco of various brands were found in the boot. The 34-year-old was arrested for the flagrante delicto offences of illegal possession of property and illegal possession of tobacco products, and was remanded in custody to facilitate investigations.
