**Man Sentenced to 17 Years for Cannabis Possession with Intent to Supply**
A 56-year-old man has been sentenced to 17 years in prison for possessing a significant quantity of cannabis with the intent to distribute. The sentencing took place at the Paphos criminal court on Monday, following an arrest that occurred in February 2025.
According to police reports, the man was apprehended after he was observed digging in a field and retrieving a package. The operation was conducted by the drug squad, known as Ykan, which responded to the suspicious activity. Upon his arrest, authorities found him in possession of 1 kilogram of cannabis.
Subsequent investigations in the area led to the discovery of an additional 29 packages, which contained green, dry cannabis plant matter that had been buried. In total, law enforcement officials seized approximately 37.5 kilograms of cannabis from the site.
