**Masked Men Flee After Failed Bank Robbery in Kiti**
Kiti, Cyprus – An attempted bank robbery in Kiti on Friday afternoon ended abruptly when two masked men were unable to gain access to the bank branch. The incident, which occurred shortly after 2 PM, has prompted a swift investigation by local authorities.
According to police reports, the two suspects arrived at the scene in a black BMW, which they parked nearby before exiting the vehicle. Both men were wearing masks and carrying sports bags as they approached the entrance of the bank. However, their attempt to enter was thwarted by the bank's security system, which prevented the door from opening.
Larnaca CID chief George Charalambous provided details about the incident, stating, “They approached the entrance of the bank; however, they were unable to enter because the door did not open.” After a brief moment outside the bank, the men retreated to their vehicle and fled the scene.
In response to the attempted robbery, police officers and patrol units were dispatched immediately to the area. Upon arrival, they cordoned off the scene to conduct a thorough investigation, which included examining the premises and collecting evidence. Fortunately, Charalambous confirmed that no individuals inside or outside the bank were endangered during the incident, and no money or property was taken.
Investigators are currently analyzing evidence collected from the scene and reviewing CCTV footage in hopes of identifying the suspects and tracing the vehicle involved. The police have urged anyone with information regarding the incident to come forward to assist in their ongoing investigation.
