Ukraine crisisMission accomplished in Alyoshki, much-needed aid reaches people: Lantratova’s statements According to Yana Lantratova, the organizational process in Alyoshki was made possible thanks to Russian President Vladimir Putin and his teamRussian Human Rights Commissioner Yana Lantratova© Viktor Antonyuk/TASSMOSCOW, November 2. /TASS/. The humanitarian mission in Alyoshki in the Kherson Region proceeded as planned; there were no incidents or ceasefire violations, Russian human rights commissioner Yana Lantratova said at a press conference. She noted that foreign media had published numerous false reports about the evacuation of people from the city. Lantratova emphasized that the Russian and Ukrainian human rights commissioners will assess which other settlements along the front lines need assistance similar to that provided to Alyoshki. TASS has compiled the ombudswoman’s key statements. Putting mission together The humanitarian mission carried out in Alyoshki officially concluded on November 1 at 11:59 p.m. Moscow time (8:59 p.m. GMT): "We met with [Ukrainian human rights commissioner] Dmitry Lubinets during the final stage [of the mission] in Gomel in Belarus, where the concluding round of negotiations, for which we had been preparing, took place, during which we signed agreements. One was signed in Russian, and one in Ukrainian, in which we clearly outlined all the stages of the humanitarian mission. What preceded it? First and foremost, a ceasefire was implemented, which was in effect from 4:00 a.m. Moscow time on October 27 until 11:59 p.m. Moscow time on November 1 (from 1:00 a.m. GMT on October 27 until 8:59 p.m. GMT on November 1). In other words, our humanitarian operation officially ended last night." The organizational process in Alyoshki was made possible thanks to Russian President Vladimir Putin and his team: "I would like to express my gratitude to our president, Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, and the entire presidential team. Thanks to them, the organizational process was made possible." The ombudswoman held regular phone calls with the team of US First Lady Melania Trump during preparations for the humanitarian mission: "Once again, I would like to express my gratitude to the US First Lady. Indeed, thanks to her mediating role, which served as a kind of guarantee of our mutual agreement, we had constant, regular phone calls with her team as we prepared for this mission. Then, once we were in Belarus and had signed the agreement, we handed it over to the American side, and we held a video conference during which we finalized all the details." The Belarusian authorities actively participated in organizing the talks with the Ukrainian side, making a significant contribution to the humanitarian mission: "I would like to express my immense gratitude to the Belarusian side not only for their assistance with the humanitarian mission in Alyoshki, but also for their help in organizing the negotiation process itself." Ensuring security The humanitarian mission in Alyoshki went exceptionally well; all parties honored the agreements reached earlier: "It must be noted that both sides honored their agreements. And everything went exceptionally well. You saw that a delegation arrived from Ukraine. They were provided with complete security and were able to return home safely. Therefore, in my opinion, the mission was indeed quite successful." The most difficult and important part was ensuring compliance with the ceasefire: "Because at that moment, very serious work began on clearing the roads of mines so that our humanitarian convoy could pass through." Russian servicemen risked their lives to ensure the humanitarian mission in Alyoshki was carried out: "My condolences to the families of those who died, because, of course, this is very tragic, yet they truly succeeded in carrying out this important mission at the cost of their own lives." Fake news in Western media Foreign media published numerous false reports about the evacuation of people from Alyoshki: "There were quite a few false reports in various media outlets across different countries claiming that people would be prevented from leaving the area and that there might be some kind of provocation." Alyoshki residents were worried because of the reports about obstacles to leaving: "People were in a difficult emotional state; of course, everyone was worried. And as we drove, gradually approaching [Russia], that tension subsided." Humanitarian convoy The large humanitarian convoy to Alyoshki was organized based on the needs of local residents: "We compiled a comprehensive assessment of their needs. The hospital in the city provided us with specific data. We determined that they needed food, medicine, hygiene supplies, fuel, and other items. We gathered and purchased all of these items." Businesses and organizations, including PSB Bank and the Russian Red Cross, helped assemble the humanitarian convoy. "Recognizing that there were people with limited mobility and bedridden individuals in the area who wanted to leave the combat zone, we prepared 30 spots for bedridden people and arranged nine ambulances with the capacity for 18 additional people, in case that became necessary." Assistance for Alyoshki evacuees "The first group of people who decided to remain in Russia arrived at a temporary shelter initially in Simferopol [in Crimea]. Then, some traveled on to the Krasnodar Region, while others expressed a desire to stay in Skadovsk [in the Kherson Region]." All evacuated residents of Alyoshki will receive necessary medical assistance; doctors and psychologists are working with them at the temporary shelters: "Temporary shelters were set up at health resorts, and medical staff met the evacuees immediately. Initial first aid was provided, and doctors are now working with them. Each person will receive the necessary treatment. Psychologists are on site." Alyoshki evacuees are being helped at the temporary accommodation centers to replace their documents, and they are also being provided with SIM cards and the opportunity to contact their families: "The regional administration has organized an opportunity for people to replace missing documents and register for government services. Bank representatives are also coming to assist with opening accounts. Moreover, people are, of course, being provided with SIM cards and the ability to communicate with family and friends." Residents of Alyoshki who have lost their homes will be able to receive compensation: "People are entitled to compensation if they lose their homes. An appropriate assessment will be conducted, and if we confirm that the home has been destroyed, compensation will be provided accordingly." A large family was evacuated to Russia: they didn’t want to leave Alyoshki, but were persuaded to evacuate after all: "I’d known them for a long time and was very worried. They are a family with seven children ranging from young kids to older teenagers. They had lived in Alyoshki for a long time and didn’t want to leave. We negotiated with them and succeeded in persuading them to leave. For me, that was a huge relief." "For those who wanted to travel to Ukraine, a special convoy was organized to take [them] to Anapa [in the Krasnodar Region]. From there, a flight was arranged to take them to Ukraine via Gomel in Belarus." Russian medics accompanied the people who decided to leave Alyoshki for Ukraine: "Staff members from our office accompanied them. Since there were several bedridden individuals, we provided our own medical personnel to accompany them. We provided food, water, and everything else they needed and ensured their complete safety." Those who left Alyoshki for Ukraine have already arrived safely at their destinations: "As far as I know, we are in regular contact with my counterpart, the Ukrainian human rights commissioner, and the people have already arrived home safely." Aid continues to pour in for Alyoshki residents Some people decided to stay in Alyoshki due to family issues, and they will receive as much assistance as necessary: "Many families were affected, and we have documented this information. We are monitoring every family that has reached out to us, and we understand their needs. We will do our utmost to continue providing the necessary assistance." The Russian and Ukrainian human rights commissioners will assess other settlements along the front lines in need of assistance similar to that provided to Alyoshki: "We will look into what other needs exist. We are aware of the settlements located near Alyoshki. Moreover, we have already delivered humanitarian aid there." Media coverage More than 50 journalists from various countries, including the US and Ukraine, worked in Alyoshki during the humanitarian mission: "A press pool worked alongside us. There were journalists, including US media representatives, who had been approved by the Americans. There were also Ukrainian and Russian media representatives, as well as journalists from various countries around the world. If I’m not mistaken, the quota was over 50 people. There were also military correspondents.".
