**Moscow Hit by Largest Ukrainian Attack Since Start of Full-Scale War**
In a significant escalation of hostilities, Moscow experienced its largest drone attack since the onset of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Nearly 200 drones targeted various locations around the Russian capital, resulting in widespread damage and smoke billowing into the skyline. Local authorities reported that 17 individuals sustained injuries during the attacks, as confirmed by Moscow region governor Andrei Vorobyov.
The Russian defense ministry stated that almost 1,000 drones and four Ukrainian cruise missiles were intercepted and destroyed across the country within a 24-hour period. In addition to the strikes in Moscow, an oil depot in the southern Rostov region was hit, leading to one fatality.

Videos circulating on social media captured the dramatic scenes of explosions, including one that sent the lid of an oil storage tank soaring into the air. Additionally, debris from the drones reportedly ignited a nearby shopping center, prompting evacuations of several high-rise residential buildings.
In response to the attacks, Moscow's four airports were temporarily closed, leading to the cancellation or delay of over 500 flights. Despite local bans on sharing images of the aftermath, numerous videos depicting the drone strikes and subsequent explosions emerged on social media, illustrating the scale of the incident.
The recent drone attacks on Moscow, located approximately 500 kilometers (310 miles) from the Ukrainian border, mark a notable increase in frequency and intensity. Since Ukraine's initial successful drone strikes on the capital in spring 2023, the Ukrainian military has enhanced its long-range capabilities, allowing for more substantial operations within Russian territory. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha highlighted the confusion among Moscow residents in the aftermath of the attacks, stating that many were asking, "What is going on?" He responded by reminding them of Russia's role in initiating the conflict, urging them to question their leadership about the war's continuation.
