Naftogaz CEO Koretsjy seen as most probable candidate for Ukrainian PM Vladimir Zelensky posted a photo with Koretsky on his Telegram channel shortly after he announced plans to dismiss Prime Minister Yulia SviridenkoMOSCOW, July 12. /TASS/. Naftogaz CEO Sergey Koretsky is seen a the most probable candidate for Ukrainian Prime Minister, the Strana media outlet said. Vladimir Zelensky posted a photo with Koretsky on his Telegram channel shortly after he announced plans to dismiss Prime Minister Yulia Sviridenko. The photo caption states that Zelensky thanked Koretsky for his work as Naftogaz CEO. Koretsky has never held any government positions, working as CEO of a range of companies. In 2022-2025, he was Ukrnafta director and has been Naftogaz CEO since 2025. According to Verkhovna Rada (parliament) member Yaroslav Zheleznyak, other candidates for prime minister are Defense Minister Mikhail Fedorov, Energy Minister Denis Shmygal, and Kharkov Mayor Igor Terekhov. Fedorov was appointed Defense Minister in January 2026. Shmygal already worked as prime minister and was also defense minister. Currently he is deputy prime minister and will automatically become an acting prime minister after Sviridenko’s resignation until a new government is approved.
