The shipment is being carried out in close cooperation with the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS), under the oversight mechanism established by UN Security Council Resolution 2720. It also involves the United Arab Emirates, along with the necessary operational coordination with directly involved parties, the Foreign Ministry said in a statement. Several states, international organisations and humanitarian bodies are supporting the same coordinated effort: France, Slovakia and Kuwait; the UN Development Programme (UNDP), the UN Population Fund (UNFPA) and the World Health Organization (WHO); and World Central Kitchen, All Hands and Hearts, and Project Hope. The ministry said: “Cyprus continues, in this context, to operate as a stable point for the collection, storage, secure screening, inspection and departure of humanitarian aid, which is transported for delivery and distribution in Gaza via the port of Ashdod.” More than 37,000 tonnes of aid have so far been sent and delivered to Gaza’s civilian population since the start of the maritime humanitarian corridor, the statement concluded.
