**New CyI Platform Offers Transparency on Cyprus Competitive Electricity Market**
On June 24, 2026, the Cyprus Institute (CyI) launched an innovative online platform named CyCEM – Insights, aimed at enhancing transparency and accessibility within the Cyprus Competitive Electricity Market. This new tool is designed to collect, organize, and present a wide array of electricity market data in a user-friendly format, addressing a significant need for coherent information in the sector.
CyCEM – Insights consolidates publicly available data from various segments of the electricity market, including the Forward Market, the Day-Ahead Market, and balancing markets such as the Integrated Scheduling Process and the Real-Time Balancing Market. By bringing these data sets together, the platform allows users to gain a comprehensive understanding of the electricity landscape in Cyprus.
The platform is equipped with features that make complex market information more accessible. Users can explore detailed visualizations, summary metrics, and structured data views. Additionally, the platform allows users to export selected datasets, facilitating further analysis of critical information such as electricity prices, trading volumes, generation mix, and the share of renewable energy sources. It also provides indicators related to market balancing, which are essential for understanding the dynamics of electricity supply and demand.
During the public presentation of CyCEM – Insights, Professor Theodoros Zachariadis from the Cyprus Institute highlighted the initiative's mission. He stated, “Our open platform, which includes all officially available data from the Cypriot Competitive Electricity Market, fills an important gap. It serves as a practical information hub that enhances transparency and facilitates data-driven energy analysis.” He further emphasized that the platform was developed by experts with extensive knowledge of energy markets, aiming to ensure the proper participation of stakeholders in Cyprus’ evolving electricity market and to promote informed public dialogue.
