**Nicosia Fills Every Neighbourhood with Music, Art, and Life**
The Municipality of Nicosia is set to enliven the city this summer with its annual Summer Nights event series, which will run from July 3 to September 25, 2026. This initiative aims to transform the capital into a vibrant open-air stage, showcasing a diverse array of free performances across various neighbourhoods, including Nicosia, Aglandjia, Engomi, and Ayios Dometios.
As residents typically flock to the beaches during the summer months, the Summer Nights programme offers a compelling reason to remain in the city and engage with its cultural offerings. The event series features an extensive lineup of musicians, performers, artists, and creative ensembles who will present their work to the public, fostering community interaction and artistic expression.
The programme kicks off on July 3 with a music trail through Ledra and Onasagorou streets, running from 7 PM to 9 PM. The evening will feature a variety of performances, including English and Greek songs by Gore Melian, a violin showcase titled "Strings Under the Stars" by Alexandra Tsiara, a musical journey from tradition to contemporary sounds by the Melodic Trio, and a unique accordion performance by Antigoni Kyriakidou.
Following the opening night, the series continues with a mix of concerts, theatrical performances, and art exhibitions. On July 8, the park at Pavlos Lisou in Engomi will host Jokar and the Band, who will perform a selection of Greek and international songs as part of the "Between Two Worlds" programme.
Art enthusiasts can look forward to a photography exhibition titled "Repute" by Andrew Tess, which will be displayed at the underpass on Solomou Square bridge on July 12. A week later, on July 17, the folklore group To Vima will present "The Spirit of Greece through Dance and Song" at Eleftheria Square, celebrating Greek culture through performance.
On July 23, two significant events will take place: the music group Asteres Drapetes will dedicate an evening to poet Nikos Kavvadias at Skali in Aglandjia, while at the Byzantine Chapel of Ayios Dometios, Giorgos Stamataris and Stavriana Koutra will perform a selection of beloved hits and timeless songs.
As the month progresses, the cultural offerings will continue with Antilogos Theatre presenting its play "The Square" at Pallouriotissa Square on July 28. The following month, August, will kick off with the Greek-language comedy "Ta Dika Mas tou Geitona Mas" performed by the theatre group To Paraskinio at the municipal gardens.
Additionally, on August 6, singer-songwriter Chrysanthi Schiza will perform "Notes in the Courtyard" at the Byzantine Chapel of Ayios Dometios, further enriching the summer's artistic landscape.
The Summer Nights series promises to feature approximately a dozen more performances, covering a wide range of artistic activities, including photography displays, music nights, and choir performances.
