**Nicosia Municipal Services to Close for Assumption Day Holiday**
Nicosia, Cyprus – The municipality of Nicosia has announced that all municipal offices and services will be closed on Saturday, August 15, in observance of the Assumption Day public holiday. This closure includes the Ayios Antonios municipal market, the Ochi farmers’ market, and the wholesale market, all of which will not operate on that day.
In a further update regarding the Ayios Antonios market, officials noted that it will remain closed for an additional four days, from August 16 to August 19, and is scheduled to reopen on Thursday, August 20. This extended closure is part of the municipality's holiday schedule and aims to allow staff a break during the festive period.
Despite the holiday closures, household waste collection services will continue as normal, ensuring that residents' waste management needs are met without interruption. The municipality has assured residents that there will be no changes to the waste collection schedule.
Additionally, the temporary Green Points located in Kaimakli and Ayios Dhometios will also be closed until August 16. This closure is attributed to the summer break of the licensed waste facility and the contractors responsible for the removal of materials. Residents are encouraged to utilize government-run Green Points, which are available free of charge. However, it is important to note that these government facilities will also be closed on August 15 in observance of the holiday.
Residents are advised to plan accordingly for the holiday closures and to take advantage of the services that will remain operational. The municipality encourages the community to observe the holiday and enjoy the celebrations associated with Assumption Day.
