**Nicosia to Host Bi-Communal Environmental Cleanup for World Cleanup Day**
Nicosia, Cyprus – On September 19, the capital will witness a collaborative effort to promote environmental stewardship as it hosts a bi-communal cleanup event. This initiative is part of the Let’s Do It! Cyprus campaign, which aligns with the global observance of World Cleanup Day, recognized by the United Nations.
The event aims to unite Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot volunteers in a shared mission to clean and preserve the environment. Organizers announced that volunteers will gather at two historical locations in the city center: Faneromeni Church and Büyük Han, starting at 9:30 AM.
Participants will focus their efforts on cleaning areas along the Venetian walls, a significant historical site in Nicosia. Following the cleanup, volunteers from both communities will convene at the Home for Cooperation around 11 AM. This meeting will serve as an opportunity for participants to engage with one another, fostering community ties through a common environmental cause.
The Let’s Do It! Cyprus campaign is noted for being the largest environmental action of its kind on the island. It encourages civic participation in environmental issues and aims to raise awareness about the importance of maintaining a clean and sustainable environment. The event is organized in collaboration with the Yeşil Barış Hareketi, a Turkish Cypriot environmental movement.
Participation in the cleanup is free, and no prior registration is necessary. All necessary cleaning equipment will be provided by the organizers, although participants are advised to wear comfortable shoes and bring water and hats for sun protection.
