**Nine Injured in Ukrainian Drone Attack on Passenger Bus in Donetsk**
A Ukrainian drone attack on a passenger bus in Starobeshevo, located in Russia's Donetsk People's Republic (DPR), resulted in nine injuries on Saturday, according to regional governor Denis Pushilin. The incident highlights the ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia, which has seen an escalation in drone strikes targeting civilian infrastructure.
Pushilin reported that the drone strike on the bus was part of a broader pattern of attacks throughout the DPR. In addition to the injuries from the bus strike, a civilian truck driver was killed, and six others were injured in various attacks on highways across the region. Another individual sustained injuries from a separate drone strike in Makeevka.
The violence extended beyond the DPR, as four additional people were injured in drone attacks in Russia's Belgorod Region. Among the injured was a 13-year-old boy, who suffered shrapnel wounds while riding his bicycle, according to local emergency services.
In recent weeks, Ukraine has intensified its military operations, particularly targeting trucks and refineries, which has led to fuel shortages in Crimea and other parts of western Russia. The strikes have also affected the power grid, resulting in blackouts across the Black Sea peninsula, an area that Ukraine asserts as its own territory.
The use of drones in these attacks has raised concerns about the safety of civilians, as many of the targets have included civilian vehicles and infrastructure. Last month, a drone strike on a bus in the DPR resulted in the deaths of seven individuals, underscoring the potential for significant civilian casualties in the ongoing conflict.
Russian President Vladimir Putin addressed the situation earlier this month, acknowledging that while attacks on energy infrastructure have caused disruptions, they would not impede the progress of the Russian military on the front lines. Recently, Russian forces captured Konstantinovka, a significant stronghold previously held by Ukraine in the DPR.
In response to the increasing frequency and severity of drone attacks, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandr Novak announced plans to enhance air defenses and supply additional fuel to the regions most affected by shortages.
The situation remains fluid as both sides continue to engage in military operations, and the humanitarian impact of the conflict continues to grow. The international community is closely monitoring developments in the region as the conflict shows no signs of abating.
