Oct. 7, 2026 Yulia Morozova / Moskva News Agency Authorities in northwestern Russia’s Yamalo-Nenets autonomous district have established a reward of 1 million rubles ($11,700) for reservists who successfully shoot down enemy drones. It is the highest publicly recorded bounty offered by any Russian region for downing Ukrainian drones, according to the state-run news agency TASS. Other regions offer significantly lower rewards, ranging from 20,000 rubles to 200,000 rubles. Previously, a one-time reward of 1 million rubles was reportedly awarded to a serviceman in the republic of Chechnya last December. Located around 2,200 kilometers (1,367 miles) from the Ukrainian border, the natural gas-rich Yamalo-Nenets was struck by Ukrainian drones for the first time in early September.
