While the warning restricts certain types of work, it does not prohibit all outdoor activities. "Light work," which includes tasks such as office work, light tool usage, cleaning, and routine driving, is generally permitted. Additionally, some forms of "moderate work," such as fencing, concreting, bricklaying, plastering, painting, flooring, tiling, carpentry, electrical work, plumbing, and asphalt paving, may continue during the hottest parts of the day.
For those working in areas not directly affected by the orange warning, the Labour Inspection Department encourages workers to adjust their schedules to mitigate heat stress. Recommendations include organizing frequent short breaks in shaded or air-conditioned environments, ensuring access to cool drinking water, and wearing appropriate clothing. Workers are advised to don lightweight, breathable fabrics, such as cotton, and to use sunglasses and headgear for sun protection.
