**Title: Palestinians Prepare to Bury Remains of 105 Victims from Recent Israeli Air Strikes in Gaza**
**Gaza City, October 26, 2023** – In a somber and emotional ceremony, Palestinians are set to bury the remains of 105 individuals who lost their lives during a series of Israeli air strikes on Gaza City on October 25, 2023. The attacks, which involved the deployment of at least 20 bombs, resulted in the destruction of the seven-storey Al Taj 3 building and several other residential structures in the Yarmouk Square neighborhood.
The General Directorate of Civil Defence announced that the funeral procession will take place on Thursday, with family members carrying the coffins of their loved ones. The remains will be interred at the Sheikh Radwan cemetery, located northwest of Gaza City.
The recovery operation for the bodies was conducted in collaboration with an Egyptian committee, highlighting the ongoing humanitarian efforts amid the conflict. Ibrahim Khalili, a correspondent for Al Jazeera reporting from Gaza City, noted that this recovery operation marks the fifth largest of its kind since the onset of the current conflict in October 2023.
Abdul al-Majdalawi, the director of civil defence operations, expressed the challenges faced during the recovery efforts, stating that it was "impossible" to reach the bodies immediately following the attack. He criticized the targeting of civil defence teams, indicating that bulldozers and heavy machinery used for recovery were deliberately struck during the operations.
Among those mourning the loss is Osama Sharaf, who revealed that 37 members of his family were killed in the attack. He shared the harrowing experience of recovering some family members at the beginning of the conflict, while 16 additional remains, including those of his father, mother, and siblings, were recovered just before the burial. This personal tragedy underscores the widespread impact of the violence on families throughout Gaza.
As the community prepares for the funeral, the atmosphere remains heavy with grief and loss, reflecting the broader humanitarian crisis facing the region. The events of October 25 have intensified the ongoing conflict, drawing attention to the urgent need for international dialogue and intervention to address the escalating violence and its devastating consequences for civilians in Gaza.
