This decision follows a meeting held on Thursday between police officials and acting mayor Angelos Onisiforou, where the growing concerns surrounding unlicensed scooter rentals were addressed.
The municipality has expressed its commitment to employing all legal avenues available to eliminate the operation of unlicensed scooter rental companies in Paphos. Acting mayor Onisiforou emphasized the need for strict enforcement of existing regulations, stating that local police would place "particular emphasis" on this issue.
Currently, the police possess the authority to enforce laws related to scooter rentals and can report any violations they encounter. The municipality itself is tasked with the licensing of rental companies, ensuring that only those meeting legal requirements can operate within the town.

According to local laws, the circulation of these devices is permitted only in designated areas, such as roads with a maximum speed limit of 30 kilometers per hour, cycle paths, cycle lanes, and public paths that are appropriately marked with signage.
