**Payment of €50 Million for KEDIPES Repayment in Q2 2026**
In a significant financial development, KEDIPES has announced a cash payment of €50 million to be made in the second quarter of 2026. This payment is part of the ongoing repayment of state aid that was previously extended to the former Cyprus Cooperative Bank. The total repayment amount to the state has now reached €1.87 billion since KEDIPES began its operations in 2018.
KEDIPES, the body responsible for managing the assets of the former Cooperative Bank, has been actively engaged in repaying the state aid received. The breakdown of the total repayment includes €1.76 billion in cash repayments, €97 million allocated for the implementation of the ‘Rent Against Installment’ Scheme, and an additional €13 million for other repayments, including installments related to the Estia plan.
As part of its commitment to providing housing solutions, KEDIPES has also made strides in its ‘Rent Against Installment’ Scheme, which aims to assist individuals in transitioning to home ownership. Currently, 800 homes have been included in this scheme, with a total of 1,200 homes approved for participation. Applications for the scheme continue to be accepted and processed, reflecting KEDIPES' ongoing efforts to support the housing needs of the community.
In addition to its repayment initiatives, KEDIPES maintains a cash reserve of €60 million. This reserve is earmarked for financing the Rent to Installment Scheme, ensuring that the program can continue to operate effectively. Furthermore, another €60 million is set aside for the repayment obligations to Eurobank Limited, related to a portfolio of non-performing loans that were part of a Loan Guarantee Scheme, which is scheduled to terminate on January 30, 2026.
The financial activities of KEDIPES are closely monitored, given the significant impact they have on the local economy and the housing market in Cyprus. The organization’s ability to manage state aid repayments while simultaneously providing housing solutions underscores its critical role in the economic landscape of the region.
As KEDIPES continues to navigate its financial responsibilities and housing initiatives, the upcoming €50 million payment in 2026 marks another step in its commitment to fulfilling its obligations to the state and supporting the community through innovative housing solutions.
