The figures compare with two civilians killed and two injured in 2024. All of last year’s casualties came from three US strikes in Yemen, according to a Pentagon report submitted to Congress and published by US media. US Central Command assessed that the strikes, carried out in April 2025, “more likely than not” resulted in civilian harm. Central Command is assessing 15 further incidents in Yemen following reports it received through non-governmental organisations, the report said. Those assessments were ongoing as of February 2026. The US military says it aims to degrade the capabilities of Iran-backed Houthi militants in Yemen. The report left out casualties from US strikes in the Caribbean and Eastern Pacific. It said US Southern Command had found no incidents in which civilian casualties more likely than not resulted from US military operations in its area of responsibility during 2025, as of February 1, 2026. President Donald Trump’s administration has struck vessels it accuses of transporting narcotics in the Eastern Pacific, casting its targets as “narco-terrorists”. Those strikes have killed more than 200 people since September 2025, according to a tally of the death tolls published after each strike. Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International consider the strikes unlawful extrajudicial killings. The American Civil Liberties Union has called the Trump administration’s assertions about those it targets “unsubstantiated, fear-mongering claims”.
