Those arrested were detained for offences including illegal possession of drugs, illegal residence in the Republic of Cyprus, and begging. As part of the same operations, police stopped and checked 728 drivers and 305 passengers during the night. Officers also carried out 64 inspections of premises aimed at tackling criminal activity, resulting in nine reported offences. Separate traffic enforcement checks led to 227 complaints for various road violations, along with 13 ongoing traffic investigations. Of the offences recorded, 105 involved speeding violations, while 15 vehicles were immobilised during enforcement action. Police also carried out 314 breathalyser tests, resulting in 19 complaints for driving under the influence of alcohol. In addition, two drivers tested positive in preliminary roadside drug tests. Authorities said enforcement operations aimed at preventing and combating crime continue daily, with increased police presence, targeted checks and immediate operational action intended to strengthen public safety and maintain public order.
