The arrest followed a formal complaint lodged with the police yesterday by a construction site employee in Strovolos. The complainant reported that copper had been stripped and stolen from cables located inside the site’s substation. During the subsequent investigation by Nicosia CID, evidence emerged linking the 29-year-old suspect to the crime, leading to his arrest under a judicial warrant shortly after 6:00 PM on the same day. As the investigation progressed, authorities secured additional evidence implicating the suspect in two further cases of copper cable theft. Both of these offences were also carried out within the Nicosia district between 15 and 17 July. The 29-year-old suspect is scheduled to appear before the Nicosia District Court today for a remand hearing. The Nicosia CID is continuing its investigation into the matters.
