Police said the incident happened at around 10:50pm. Philenews has learned that the building belongs to a 60-year-old Ukrainian national with a Cypriot citizenship, and houses the offices of a group of companies active in real estate, investment and technology. Residents heard the shots and alerted the authorities. Police are investigating the incident and examining CCTV footage in an effort to identify the two perpetrators, who were riding a motorcycle. The shots appear to have damaged the glass at the building’s main entrance, as well as a first-floor window. Five shell casings were found at the scene. Shots hit the entrance and a glass display case “Last night, at around 11pm, the duty officer at Limassol Police Directorate received information that shots had been heard in the Linopetra area, near a building housing companies. Patrol units, officers and members of Limassol Police went to the area immediately. Examinations established that shots had been fired at the entrance door, as well as at a glass display case in the building, which houses several companies. “The scene was cordoned off and searches for evidence in the area are continuing at this time. Examinations so far indicate the perpetrators were two people riding a large-capacity motorcycle, who fired a number of shots at the building with a pistol. Various items of evidence were collected from the scene for forensic examination, while searches in the area for evidence relating to the perpetrators continue. “As for the owner, he is currently outside Cyprus and is expected to give a statement on his return. His companies deal with real estate, investments and computer software.” Asked whether the owner had previously come to the attention of the Police, or had made any complaint, Limassol Assistant Police Director Lefteris Kyriakou said he had never come to the attention of the authorities for anything. He noted that in their first contact with staff at the company, Limassol CID investigators were told there were no disputes and no threats had been received from anyone. Limassol CID continues to investigate the case.
