Investigators are looking into whether the same person is behind both incidents, after police confirmed this is the second similar break-in recorded at a Limassol kiosk. According to a social media post about the incident, the suspect used an angle grinder to force open the door of a kiosk on the corner of Misiaouli and Kavazoglou Street in Limassol, breaking in between 5am and 5.30am. According to the same post, he then grabbed the kiosk’s OTERO machine, used to process mobile phone data and transactions, before breaking it open to get the cash and dumping it on Makariou Avenue. Reports that the same person tried to steal similar machines from other kiosks in the area that night are also being investigated. The suspect is also believed to have parked his vehicle on a street behind the kiosk, and, according to the post, has a tattoo on his left arm. Police hope CCTV footage from the area will help identify the suspect and shed light on his movements before and after the break-in, and are now reviewing available recordings. The post urges kiosks and shops with similar machines to be extra vigilant.
