Police are investigating an incident involving dangerous driving at the Ayios Athanasios roundabout in Limassol after a video circulating on social media showed a car performing drifting manoeuvres near pedestrians and other vehicles. The dangerous manoeuvres continued close to other vehicles on the road, causing traffic congestion in the area. The video was posted on Sunday with the caption “Just Married”. The footage shows the driver repeatedly drifting around the roundabout producing thick clouds of smoke from its tyres, while fireworks are set off, creating a spectacle in the middle of the road while several people stand nearby filming the scene. One person also appears to be standing on the roadway during the incident. Asked by the Cyprus Mail on the incident, police confirmed that they are investigating it whilst initially saying they had received no complaint or information about it prior to the video posting. Concerning the viral video and its validity they also said that this is being investigated. On why there seems to be so many car incidents in the Limassol area, the police stated that this is Cyprus wide.
