In a series of targeted police operations conducted across Cyprus on Friday night, law enforcement officials arrested ten individuals and issued 370 traffic violation reports. According to statements released by the police on Saturday, the arrests covered a range of offenses, including drug possession, burglary, and illegal residency. The operations were part of a broader initiative to crack down on criminal activity and ensure compliance with traffic regulations.
During the night, police stopped a total of 684 vehicles for inspection, checking the credentials and behavior of 849 drivers and passengers. The operations were not limited to traffic; officers also conducted 56 inspections of various premises, which resulted in six complaints being filed.
Traffic violations were a significant focus of the operations, with police issuing 370 reports for various infractions. Among these, 63 cases were specifically related to speeding, highlighting ongoing concerns about road safety. In addition to speeding violations, police conducted 294 alcohol tests, with 30 individuals testing positive for alcohol consumption. Furthermore, eleven preliminary drug tests were administered, yielding three positive results.
As part of the enforcement actions, police impounded 18 vehicles that were found to be in violation of regulations. The operations reflect the police's commitment to maintaining public order and safety on the roads and in communities throughout Cyprus.
