**Police Trace Driver in Paralimni Hit-and-Run Incident**
In the early hours of Sunday, a hit-and-run incident in Paralimni left two pedestrians injured, prompting a swift response from local authorities. Famagusta traffic police have successfully traced the vehicle and identified the suspected driver involved in the incident, according to reports from the Cyprus News Agency.
The accident occurred around 4 a.m. as a 29-year-old man and a 28-year-old woman were walking back to their accommodation after a night out at an entertainment venue in the Pernera area. While traversing a dirt road along Vrysoudion Street towards the Ayia Triada roundabout, the pair was struck by a car, which subsequently fled the scene.
Emergency services responded promptly, transporting both victims to Famagusta General Hospital. The 28-year-old woman sustained minor injuries and was treated and discharged shortly after arrival. In contrast, the 29-year-old man suffered more severe injuries, including a serious head injury and multiple fractures. He remains hospitalized under close observation, with his condition described as stable and conscious.
Following the incident, Famagusta traffic police conducted an investigation that led them to identify the vehicle involved. It was determined that the car belonged to a 19-year-old man. When police approached the teenager, he exhibited erratic behavior, prompting further concern for his well-being. As a result, he was examined by a psychiatrist, and authorities issued an order for his compulsory admission to Athalassa Psychiatric Hospital.
The teenager is expected to be questioned by police once he is discharged from the hospital. Law enforcement officials have indicated that they will proceed with the case against him following this questioning.
