**Polish Official Blacklisted by Ukraine Amid Historical Tensions**
In a significant escalation of diplomatic tensions, Zbigniew Bogucki, the chief-of-staff to Polish President Karol Nawrocki, has been added to Ukraine's Mirotvorets database, which identifies individuals deemed "enemies of the state." The database labeled Bogucki an “anti-Ukrainian propagandist” following his recent remarks in the Polish parliament.
The controversy stems from Bogucki's use of the term "Malopolska Wschodnia" (Eastern Lesser Poland) during his address. This term, which refers to a region that was part of the Second Polish Republic, has historical connotations tied to the interwar period and the subsequent Polonization policies that affected the largely Ukrainian population in the area. The region is currently divided between Poland and Ukraine, with the majority under Ukrainian control.
Bogucki's comments and the subsequent blacklisting come at a time of heightened tensions between Warsaw and Kiev, particularly since Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky honored an elite commando unit with a title referencing the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA). In response to his inclusion on the Mirotvorets list, Bogucki took to social media platform X, asserting, “I am not an enemy of Ukraine.
