**Polls Open Sunday for Aglandjia Deputy Mayor By-Election**
Aglandjia, Cyprus – Voters in the municipality of Aglandjia are set to head to the polls this Sunday to elect a new deputy mayor. This by-election comes in the wake of the resignation of Andreas Constantinou, who secured a seat in the Cypriot parliament representing the Democratic Rally (Disy) during the parliamentary elections held on May 24.
The election will feature two independent candidates vying for the deputy mayor position: Prokopis Prokopiou and Andri Hadjiandreou. The polling process will commence at 7:00 AM and will run until noon, followed by a one-hour break. Voting will resume at 1:00 PM and conclude at 6:00 PM.
A total of 15,182 registered voters are eligible to participate in this election, which includes 167 EU citizens and 23 displaced voters. The voting will take place across 26 polling stations located in six different schools throughout Aglandjia.
The distribution of polling stations is as follows:
- **Aglandjia’s First Primary School**: 5 stations
- **Third Primary School**: 4 stations
- **Fourth Primary School**: 5 stations
- **Fifth Primary School**: 5 stations
- **Sixth Primary School**: 4 stations
- **Archbishop Makarios III Gymnasium (Platy)**: 3 stations
Among these, the largest polling station is situated at the First Primary School, accommodating 651 registered voters, while the smallest polling station is located at the Fifth Primary School, which has 517 registered voters.
Voters can verify their designated polling stations through the “Where Do I Vote” service available on the elections website. Additionally, a telephone information service will be operational throughout the election day, providing assistance from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM via the office of the returning officer at the number 22-804340.
The results of the by-election are anticipated to be announced around 8:30 PM on Sunday, marking an important moment for the local governance of Aglandjia as residents choose their next deputy mayor.
