**PwC Foundation Awards 14 Scholarships to First-Year University Students**
The PwC Foundation has recently awarded 14 scholarships to first-year students at the University of Cyprus and the Cyprus University of Technology (Tepak). This initiative marks the fourth consecutive year that the foundation has provided financial support aimed at promoting equal access to education.
The scholarships were distributed equally, with seven recipients from each university. The selection criteria emphasized both academic performance, assessed after the completion of the first year of studies, and the socio-economic backgrounds of the applicants. This dual focus allows the program to recognize students who have demonstrated academic excellence while also providing assistance to those facing financial or social challenges.
The scholarship initiative is part of the PwC Foundation's broader commitment to education and culture, which constitutes one of its three main areas of activity. The foundation aims to support local communities and enhance the quality of life for individuals through various educational programs.
Award ceremonies for the scholarships were held at both universities, becoming an anticipated annual event. The ceremony at Tepak took place on June 15, followed by the University of Cyprus event on June 22. Both gatherings included university representatives, students, and their families, celebrating the achievements of the scholarship recipients.
At the Tepak ceremony, Konstantina Logotheti, Director of the PwC Foundation, addressed the attendees, congratulating the students on their accomplishments. She emphasized the significance of ongoing investment in education and the development of young people as a crucial element for societal progress.
Similarly, at the University of Cyprus, Andreas Yiasemides, the CEO-elect of PwC Cyprus, presented the scholarships. He commended the students for their hard work and dedication, highlighting the importance of knowledge, excellence, and lifelong learning in shaping their futures. "Through the PwC Foundation scholarship program, we recognize excellence and support young people who possess the skills, integrity, and determination to shape their future. Investing in the next generation is an investment in the future of our society," he stated.
The PwC Foundation reaffirms its commitment to initiatives that yield a positive social impact, aiming to create opportunities for young individuals to develop their skills, progress in their education, and fully realize their potential. This scholarship program not only rewards academic achievement but also fosters an inclusive educational environment for students from diverse backgrounds.
As the foundation continues its efforts, it remains dedicated to empowering youth and contributing to the advancement of education in Cyprus, ensuring that all students have the opportunity to succeed regardless of their circumstances.
