**Residents Evacuated After Fire at Kato Paphos Restaurant**
Kato Paphos, Cyprus – In the early hours of Saturday, residents of an apartment building in Kato Paphos were evacuated as a precautionary measure following a fire that erupted in a restaurant located within the mixed-use structure. The incident occurred at approximately 3:26 AM, prompting a swift response from the local fire service.
Firefighters arrived on the scene shortly after the call was received and managed to bring the blaze under control by 4:49 AM. The fire primarily affected the mezzanine level of the restaurant, as well as a small room where individuals had been staying. Fortunately, the occupants of that room detected the fire early and were able to evacuate safely before the situation escalated.
In addition to the restaurant's patrons, firefighters also took precautionary measures by evacuating residents from the apartments situated on the floor above the restaurant. The quick action of the fire service ensured that no injuries were reported during the incident.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, with authorities working to determine the circumstances that led to the outbreak.
In a separate incident on the same day, another fire broke out in the Kallepia area of the Paphos district. Three fire engines responded to this blaze, which was supported by personnel from the forestry department and the game service. The fire affected approximately 0.4 hectares of dry grass and wild vegetation before being brought under control. Additionally, some irrigation pipes in the area were reported damaged due to the flames.
