He appeared before the District Court at noon following the end of his six day remand, with the judge granting a police request for the Romanian monk to be directly referred to the Criminal Court for the charges he faces, including attempted murder. In regard to due process, the Court will decide on August 18th whether the accused will remain in custody or released under conditions. The Romanian stabbed a 53 year old initially stabbed and seriously injured a maintenance man in an incident inside the monastery and then subsequently also attacked a novice, who suffered lighter injuries to his hand. He lost control when the Abbot asked to hand over the keys of the monastic cell he was living in for the past four years, following a seris of warnings that he had overstayed his welcome and needed to leave.
