Rosneft received the highest scientific and technical development rating from the AK&M Agency, the company said. The rating was assigned in compliance with the Methods for determining scientific and technological development rating of biggest Russian companies. The AK&M Agency's Highest Level of Scientific and Technical Development rating means that Rosneft belongs to the class of companies with the highest scientific and technical potential, with an integral score of 8.96. During the study, the agency assessed the country's 300 biggest enterprises using criteria like investment in R&D, patent activity, as well as own research units, and partnerships with scientific organizations. The company's priorities According to Rosneft, the company's key priorities in scientific and technical development under the Rosneft-2030 Strategy are operational leadership, large-scale digitalization, and the creation of innovative technologies. Technologies' localization and import substitution are part of the strategy. "The company has achieved a level of innovation development that allows introducing domestic technologies and equipment that surpass their foreign counterparts," Rosneft added. The company has been using a mechanism to support innovation proposals: in 2025, about 1,000 initiatives from employees were implemented, and their economic effect exceeded 1.5 billion rubles ($18 million). The company actively defends its developments: in 2025, it obtained 77 new patents, and the total intellectual property portfolio totals 1,178 objects. The overall effect of measures to improve operational efficiency over the past year amounted to more than 19 billion rubles ($225 million). Rosneft's most important area is digital and technological transformation, the company added. The expected financial impact from using digital technologies in 2026 will amount to 100 billion rubles ($1.1 billion). Rosneft's approach is based on three directions: the introduction of unified platform solutions, unification of IT systems, and integration of artificial intelligence into business processes. In particular, Rosneft has been actively developing digital twin technologies. By using these, the company has collected and monitored more than 85% of all technological parameters - data from drilling rigs and wells, refinery installations, and electricity meters. Besides, Rosneft is Russia's first oil company to create and develop successfully a line of software covering all key processes in oil and gas production. The company's other notable achievements in 2025 include the development of a new method to control corrosion of existing wells, as well as the use of own catalyst production technologies, the rating agency added. For example, in 2025, Rosneft scientists added new developments in polymer production to the line of catalysts. Rosneft is a current leader in development and production of own catalysts for oil refining. The company fully provides its refineries with domestic products and replaces earlier imported analogues. According to the AK&M Agency, Rosneft also pays special attention to research in environmental protection and biodiversity support. The company is implementing the biggest scientific program in the Arctic having collected a unique array of data on the region's climate, geology and biology.
