Rostec has introduced the domestically produced Igla small-arms system, which will replace a number of foreign counterparts, the Russian state corporation reported. "The Rostec State Corporation has launched the fully domestically produced Igla small-arms system. The platform consists of a modular rifle and five types of rounds. This versatile solution was developed for hunting and sports. The system will replace a number of foreign counterparts that are currently unavailable in Russia due to sanctions," Rostec noted. The company said that the Igla rifle is available in hunting and sports configurations with 600mm and 420mm barrels. The sports versions have heavier barrels designed for maximum shot stability at the shooting range, while the hunting versions have lighter barrels to ensure a balance between accuracy and ease of use in the field. The system’s ammunition range comprises five variants of the .308 Win (7.62x51mm) with different bullets: the hunting rounds SP 150, Shakal 141, Shakal 160, and Rocket 116, as well as the Match 160 for sport shooting. "Today, a full production cycle for the rifle and cartridges has been established--they are manufactured from domestic components at Russian facilities. At the same time, unlike certain imported solutions, Igla offers a unified ecosystem in which the firearm and cartridges were developed jointly and have undergone comprehensive performance tuning. As a result, the quality of the firearms and ammunition generally allows an experienced shooter to hit the target with the first shot. The small-arms system is already available on the market," the state corporation added.
