UN General AssemblyRubio ordered Iranian delegation to UNGA leave US immediately after talks stalled — media The White House thought that talks with Iran could yield some progress but later it became clear that the talks had reached an impasseUS Secretary of State Marco Rubio© AP Photo/Alex BrandonWASHINGTON, October 1. /TASS/. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio demanded on Monday that the Iranian delegation to the UN General Assembly leave the country immediately after bilateral settlement negotiations stalled, Axios reported, citing sources. According to the sources, The White House thought on Monday morning that talks with Iran could yield some progress but later in the day it became clear that the talks had reached an impasse. In the evening, the US mission to the United Nations, at Rubio’s orders, told the Iranian mission that the Iranian delegation led by Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi must leave New York immediately, the source said. Several hours later, the Iranian delegation left for the airport and took off for Doha overnight to Tuesday. Meanwhile, according to an Axios source, Araghchi planned to leave for Tehran on Monday evening anyway. "Qatari mediators tried to secure a diplomatic breakthrough between the U.S. and Iran but made little progress, with neither side willing to budge," Axios said, adding that they continue discussing their compromise proposal with the sides.
